  • Finding the right psychotherapist is a personal and important decision, and Wheelhouse Counseling makes it easy to feel confident in choosing our team.

    • Free Consultations:  Our initial conversations give you the chance to share your challenges and goals, while the therapist outlines how they can help you make meaningful progress.  It’s a no-pressure opportunity to ensure we’re the right fit for you.

    •  Adaptable Approach:  Our team’s advanced training equips us to handle even the most complex issues.  Instead of applying a one-size-fits-all method, we offer a rich blend of resources and personalized guidance to meet your unique needs and goals.

    •  Proven Expertise & Reputation:  For years, our therapists have been recognized leaders in the wellness field—earning multiple industry awards, serving as officers in professional associations, teaching Psychology courses at the university level, and leading workshops to help fellow clinicians enhance their services.  Don’t just take our word for it—visit our Reviews page to hear directly from our clients.

  • The honest truth is that psychotherapy does not always resolve issues, and this may or may not be the fault of the client or of the therapist. However, our staff is well trained in evidence-based practices that research shows to commonly provide beneficial outcomes. Psychotherapy can be life-changing, but it’s honest and important to say that there are no guarantees—and any therapist who promises otherwise isn’t being realistic. That said, here’s what you can count on:

    • A strong therapeutic relationship boosts your chances of success.  Research consistently shows that the connection between you and your therapist is one of the biggest predictors of positive outcomes.  Feeling heard, supported, and understood makes a world of difference.

    • Progress takes effort (on both sides).  Therapy isn’t something that happens to you; it’s something you actively participate in.  The more open, honest, and engaged you are—in and outside of sessions—the more likely you are to experience growth.

    • Different people define “getting better” differently.  For some, success means reducing anxiety or depression symptoms.  For others, it’s gaining insight, building coping strategies, or improving relationships.  Clarifying your goals with your therapist can help you track meaningful progress.

    • Therapy works—but not always overnight.  Some people feel relief after just a few sessions, while others need longer to see significant change.  The process can include ups and downs, but that’s normal and often part of healing.

    • When therapy “doesn’t work”…  Sometimes, it’s simply not the right therapist, approach, or timing—and that’s okay.  A good therapist will help you evaluate whether you’re making progress and, if not, explore alternatives.

  • At Wheelhouse Counseling, we believe quality therapy is an investment in your well-being, and we work hard to make every session worth your time and money.

    Our licensed therapists offer services at a range of price points, from $130–$185 per standard session. We’re proud that follow-up research with former clients reflects this value, with an average satisfaction rating of 9.4 out of 10 stars. We’re deeply grateful for the opportunity to support so many clients over the years.

    For those seeking more affordable options, we offer discounted sessions with our graduate clinicians for just $50 per session, including evening and weekend availability.

  • At Wheelhouse Counseling, our staff chooses not to work directly with insurance companies for several important reasons:

    • Protecting Your Confidentiality: Insurance companies often require a formal diagnosis and access to session notes in order to cover counseling, which can compromise your privacy. By operating independently, we safeguard your personal information.

    • Honoring Your Choice: This approach allows you to decide how often and for how long you’d like to meet with your therapist—without restrictions imposed by insurance providers. Your care remains entirely in your hands.

    • Reimbursement Support: While we don’t bill insurance directly, we’re happy to provide you with the necessary documentation to request reimbursement from your insurance provider.

  • Many therapists stick to a rigid formula—specific therapy types, fixed session frequencies, and set treatment lengths.  At our practice, we believe in adapting to each client’s unique needs and goals.  What truly sets us apart is our ability to cut through the noise, providing clear, practical guidance that empowers clients to create the happiness and fulfillment they deserve.  While many clients prefer the traditional model of weekly one-hour sessions, others find that meeting just once or twice a month leads to meaningful, lasting positive change.

  • All therapists and counseling approaches are different.  Some therapists say very little; others talk a great deal.  Some ask many questions; others mostly make observations.  Some use only one approach, others use many.  Despite these variations, you should always expect:

    • To feel respected and cared for;

    • To receive information about confidentiality and other professional policies;

    • To guide the therapy conversation so that it is useful for you.
