Feeling Out of Control? Try 4 P’s Journaling

When you can’t control what is happening, challenge yourself to control how you respond to what is happening. That is where your power lies.

Everyone experiences eras of crisis, overwhelm, and uncertainty. An excellent strategy for lifting yourself out of the muck is by completing the following journaling prompts, known as The Four P’s.

  1. Predictability.  What activities do you have planned today?  Who are you going to see?  How are they going to treat you?  Whether good or bad, what can you reasonably expect from today?

  2. Power.  What things in your day do you have control over?  What can you reasonably influence?  What can’t you?

  3. Personal Success.  What are three things that you want to achieve this week?

  4. Positivity.  What is at least one thing today that will likely go well?
