My name is Maven, and I am excited to be a part of your counseling experience! I am a naturally playful and caring sheepadoodle. My work training started when I was a puppy, and many Wheelhouse clients pet me when they feel angry or sad. Empirical research shows petting animals can lower blood pressure and cortisol levels.
My role during counseling sessions is to be available to clients when they are upset. I’m trained to sense client emotions, and I will sit on the floor next to clients so that they can pet me and calm down. I’m just as happy if a client doesn’t want to interact with me because that lets me return to napping.
